I am an experienced and professional wedding photographer based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. I specialize in wedding photography, specifically wedding photojournalism, a documentary style that is candid, fun, relaxed, romantic and inherently artistic.
I’ve come to a time in my career in wedding photography that I’m going to concentrate on being the photographer that I was born to be. Something that I’m extremely good at. Something that sets me apart from the other wedding photographers in my area and most importantly, a style that attracts the types of couples I most want to work with.
My style is Wedding photojournalism. I discreetly capture emotions and beautiful moments. I strive to not interfere for the purposes of contriving them. It’s documentary wedding coverage with minimal formal photos.
Skilled wedding photojournalism isn’t simply shooting thousands of photos hoping to “get a good one”. For me, my style of wedding photography requires instinct, anticipation, positioning, lens selection, experience, stealth, compassion and empathy, being able to “see” emotion by “feeling” it. It’s thoroughly understanding wedding photography, wedding photojournalism, light, what my cameras are capable of, what I’m capable of. I’ve been described by many others as “a ninja”. I’ve never worked for the news media (so, I’m not a textbook photojournalist), but my photos have told countless love stories for the couples I’ve had the pleasure to photograph.
Starting in 2014, I am photographing no more than 25 weddings per season. I am looking for couples that are deeply in love. Couples that believe in romance. Couples that place wedding photography VERY HIGH on their list of priorities. I would like you to look at my wedding photography portfolio carefully. I would ask that you be sure that the work I present is how you envision yourself on your wedding day. My style lends itself to more documentary coverage. It’s more like a story, documentary, candid, relaxed, romantic and fun.
I am a completely hopeless romantic, (something that my wife loves about me!) and I REALLY love being around people that are in love. (a wedding photographer‘s dream!) I’ve been told many times that people can see my soul in my work as a wedding photographer, and I would have to agree that I put my heart into it. But, most importantly, I believe that my work captures that “spark”. That intangible energy between people that forms the glue of a relationship. That pixie dust that gets people through “for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part”. I capture your wedding day moments discreetly, reverently, quickly, while laughing, and with tears in my eyes at times.
I’ve closed my office because I rarely used it. I want to meet couples in our home (the one I share with my beautiful Wife). After we talk on the phone or via email, we’ll meet right here in the living room, get to know one another, talk about your wedding and what you want from me as your wedding photographer and the kind of photos you’d like to see in the body of work that will be YOUR wedding photography. We’ll look at some more examples of my wedding photography so I can get a feel for what moves you. I want YOU to be sure that you want me as your wedding photographer, and I want to be sure that you’re looking for the style of wedding photojournalism that I specialize in.
